It was April of 2003 as the Ceilidh Connection (Halifax’s temporary void filler for the all ages scene) was being forced to stop doing all ages shows for reasons we felt could be fixed. So Ryan Patey, our master and commander, came up with the concept to set up an out door concert, all day, right in front of City Hall in Halifax’s Grand Parade. He found out it would be easier than most would think, and at a hit to his wallet, he set the date.
About 2 weeks before the event was suppose to kick off, things resolved with doing all ages shows at the Ceilidh and things got back into business. So we took Tumbleweed as more or less of a celebration of what had gone on. Of all things that could have gone wrong, things went quite well for team Tumbleweed on that day, aside form many a sunburn. And we walked away (quite late) satisfied with what we had accomplished. |
